Imma Pedemonte

Sports journalist

Imma Pedemonte

Graduate in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she is a sports journalist with forty years’ experience.

A pioneering woman journalist in the field of female sports, she began as a writer for the newspaper Dicen, where she had her own section called “La chica del Dicen …”, in which she wrote mainly about football and roller hockey. During this time, between 1978 and 1983, she also wrote for Todo Sport and Patín Sport magazines, for which she was editor for a brief period. In 1983, she organised these activities with the sports editorial staff of Catalunya Ràdio and in November of that same year she joined TV3 to work there exclusively.

In Televisió de Catalunya, always in the sports department, she reported on the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988 and those of Barcelona in 1992 and the broadcasts of roller hockey games. She also presented and edited the sports section of the lunchtime, evening and weekend news bulletins, as well as other sports programmes, such as Gol a gol, Tot l’esport, Gol a gol Espanyol and, for sixteen years, Zona de ball.

In March 2018, she received the Edelmira Calvetó Award, a distinction promoted by Barcelona Football Club in recognition of the group of pioneering women in sports journalism.
